Just when it seemed things were coming together for Argentina and the country's "collective psychosis" about Lionel Messi would be cast out by his goal in their 4-1 win over Chile on Friday, it all goes wrong yet again. Tuesday's 1-0 loss to Venezuela in their second World Cup qualifier marked the first time that has ever happened. Not just in World Cup qualifying or since the world reset in the year 2000 -- in all matches ever.
Argentina manager Alejandro Sabella offered his thoughts after the game (via FIFA.com):
"We have to analyse what we should improve. The qualifiers are a long tournament and we must improve some aspects."
Well, I've already invested the time in a deep, deep analysis and came up with a detailed list of what Argentina need to improve:
-Everything.
-Martin Demichelis' entire existence.
Once they clear up those two simple things, Messi will stop looking like he just watched someone stomp on his Lego Ninjago Mountain Shrine playset.
