We are remodeling a house and am wondering if it's ok to vent the gas water heater and gas furnace out though the same tube. Both have fan driven exhaust and will vent though the sill plate. Currently both are vented separately with 2" pvc but am relocating the water heater and would be great if they could be vented together. I have seen it done in another home but have some concern about back up of fumes.
Also.... As with any project, there's always someone saying things can't be done that way. We have a new 3" main drain stack and I decided to cap with a 2" vent pipe thru the roof. I say it's perfectly acceptable, he insists it should be 3" thru the roof. Am venting 1 bathroom and 1 kitchen sink. Who's right?
