my dad and i live in the same house. we both have seperate verizon phone numbers and are both paying for dsl. We both have a dsl modem connected to our computer. What i want to do is get rid of my phone # have the phone jack switched to his number. If i connect my modem to the phone jack (with the filters) will I be able to get an internet connection on my computer without paying for a second computer. Thanks in advance for your help.

Just drop one of the DSL subscriptions, then put a router on the remaining DSL line and connect both of your computers to that. The router will handle the interaction with the DSL line and you can both use the Internet at the same time over the same connection.

You cannot connect two modems to the same phone line. Do the above instead.
