Verizon phone on alltel plan?

Maybe an alltel or verizon representative can help me out here. Right now im still officially on an alltel plan even though alltel and verizon are one company. However, i would really like to get a verizon phone. The Lg env touch in particular. If i do buy one off ebay or something, can i go to alltel and have them activate it on my account? Will all the basic features still work?? I've heard some yes and some no. I know this girl that has an lg dare on her alltel account, it's not even a smart phone plan, but i just want to be sure before i spend a bunch of money on a phone.

Oh and i live in northern michigan if that helps..
