Verizon Wirelss, AT&T what's reliable?

Which company really has more reliable service wordwide, meaning more bars. I currently have Verizon Wireless and I must admit there customer service is awesome. They know what they are talking about, but the coverage sucks.
List of problems:
Failed Call
Receive messages hours after they are sent to me
Lots of drop calls
People on other line can't hear me sometimes
Not as reliable as they claim

I want to switch to AT&T for the new iphone 3gs, somebody please share your experiences so I can make a better decision to stay or switch.

Also what are AT&T ups and downs?
 
I have AT&T and so does my older brother. He dosn't have any problems and texts are sent and recieved really fast, but I have a hard time getting bars. At my friend Cheyenne's house I have to walk an entire block to get one bar. When I was in vacation on Skyline Drive, I also couldn't get bars.
