I seem to be having problems sharing files between my computers with the new Vista Home Basic. (vista is evil, :-( I miss my XP).

I have a laptop that runs Vista Basic and a Desktop that Also Runs Vista basic. They are both under *Workgroup* in my networks.

These are the steps I've done
Under Start > Network > Network & Sharing Center
I changed my wireless home network (thats password protected) to a privated network instead of public (on both computers).

Network discovery, File Sharing, Public folder sharing, Printer Sharing, and Media sharing are all ON. (This is on both computers also).

Then on my desktop (that has the folder I want to share). I right clicked, went to sharing tab and clicked advanced sharing. Checked the Share this folder box, Then Under Permissions Clicked Full Control, and to Share with EVERYONE. Applied my settings. Then it has the two little people (which I assume means shared).

Then go to my laptop, Network, Open folder >>>
And I get the Message : Folder is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this netwrok resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have acess permissions.

Access Denied.

So what am I doing wrong?

I also tried going under the sharing tab, and just clicking share. But it only lets me Add users on the desktop not over the network.

Please Help I'm confused as to what I shoud do.

PS - I share my printer over the network, and that works fine.
So I should create a user account on my desk top and laptop that say the same thing. Like Share or something?

You also have to make sure that on each computer there is a user name with the same id and password account. Also check your firewall settings and make sure that you have the file and printer sharing tabs checked to be excepted. Go to control panel and then to firewall and then to advanced or something like that and check, then restart.
