a friend of mine told me that he heard a rumor that VW might be coming to NASCAR. I was skeptical, but then I did a google search and found this article from ESPN. basically it's saying that VW execs met with NASCAR officials to discuss featuring their brand in racing, but they may be preffering to enter the NASCAR-owned Grand Am Roles Series instead. I haven't been able to find anything recent on this that goes more in-depth, but hypothetically speaking, how would you guys feel about a second foreign manufacturer in NASCAR? I wouldn't mind at all, the more the merrier. plus, it would be more worthwhile when an American brand wins.

the article is from November, so this is old news. I just never heard about it and thought a few of you might not have either.
@Richard M: exactly. back in the 50's, a lot of foreign cars were entered in a number of NASCAR races, but it was only the domestic manufacturers that provided financial support.

about a year ago, when the factories started backing out, I was told by a crew member of a Nationwide car that Honda would be coming in and starting in the trucks. Then Nissan would follow not because they wanted to but because they did not want to be left out. I have not heard any thing else.
I own a Honda and I have asked at the dealer ship numerous times about racing, and they have heard rumors but that's it. With all that Ms. Danica has done with F!, when I ask about racing at the parts counter they give me a blank stare. (0UH) I thought she ran a Honda Motor?

Aren't all the bodies the same? What would be the difference? I know they now LOOK different but I thought that was the way the body was painted?

It wouldn't be the first time a VW raced in NASCAR, but it would be the first time a VW raced in NASCAR with factory backing..
