I want to get a 2009 TDI Jetta, but I keep hearing mixed reviews that Volkswagen (and jettas in particular) have horrible problems later on. On the other hand I have read some reviews of the 2009 Jetta where people are saying its very reliable!

So are these TDI 2009 models a significant improvement in reliability for VW, or are they just getting good reviews because they will breakdown later when more miles are put on them?

very bad i had a 2007 TDI jetta. My car broke down 5 times with only about 58,000. The turbo went bad, it is very expensive to fix it. Also the lights inside went out, the ac did to. Voltswagen is not a very reliable brand

I have a 2002 Jetta TDI that I bought new, at 80,000 miles it is still humming along, oh yeah the back window on the passengers side got stuck, and when I took it in they ordered the wrong part, they gave me a loner until it was fixed. "Two weeks"! Other than that I have no complaints. On my last trip going at a steady 70mph I got 45 mpg. In town is not so good, 33 to 37 mpg.
