VW Bora, beta and gamma radios?

I have a beta cassette radio in my car that is linked to a cd changer in the boot. However, the volume control knob id broken. So I am wondering if a gamma CD radio will work ok in its place?

P.S. I have heard that beta is 2x20W and gamma is 4x20W and don't know if this will affect it either
