VW caddy van rear lock.... Won't lock?

Hi people, I have a VW Caddy van and the rear doors won't lock!!! it sounds as if the central locking isn't working?... All the rods are connected and all looks to be working ok??? Could this be a relay or something (have checked the fuse)

I'm hoping this is a common problem and someone is going to post on her " aahhhh yeah, the old caddy no locky problem" although this may not happen, so any info is appreciated.

You need to check the "activator" This is either operated by a vacuum pipe or more likely an electric solenoid. You will find it screwed within the door cavity the connecting rods will be fixed to it as well as a plug in electrical supply. You may find it easier to purchase a new one rather than hunting around scrapyards.With the electrical ones there is a tendency for water to get into them over the years.
