We just got an 8 week Samoyed 1 week ago. What is the best way to train him?

We got our Samoyed 1 week ago and take him out on potty trips even in the middle of the night and he goes without a problem. He is currently in a playpen in our bedroom. He cries when we leave the room but stops when he sees us in the room. He also cries a lot when he hears me preparing his food in the kitchen although he cant see me because he is in the bedroom. My husband just started with the "sit" command. We want to know what is the best way to really train our Samoyed puppy.
