teaching logic in school affect theism? If schools (say grade school or middle school) taught logic, including what logical fallacies are and how to detect them, what would be the impact on religion?

From what I've seen and heard or read about teachers, it would impact them negatively.
Along with their mixed up personal interpretations of issues and facts, they just regurgitate the unthinking collection of data they were fed in college.
Aside from the general incompetence of teachers, teaching Logic is a great idea.

it doesnt....Christians take science sometimes yet still believe....why do you care what others are doing?? i dont...why do you bother coming here?

I believe in educating our children in scientific facts and the difference between facts and theories. The definition of faith would be a definite requirement for all students to understand. Our country really lacks education that helps our children be more practical and more inquisitive about what makes things tick. For me as an atheist when I hear religious people babbling on about a God I find it repulsively and ignorantly embarrassing to be around. But yes education is what will abolish the Stone Age system of belief.

It could be a death blow for religion, although there are many theologians who have studied logic, and know what they are saying is false. But they keep saying it because they are more interesting in keeping the "status quo" and their power base intact.

Here are links to questions I asked as to how logic can be used AGAINST theism:

Logic is tied to the limits of human reason...why would you want to strap down our minds. How about thinking outside the box?

Given that religion is taught in UK schools and that seems to put people off religion , teaching logic might put people off logic and increase the number of people turning ot religion.

I'm sure it would have *some* difference, but keep in mind, a great many children are indoctrinated into their parents' religion before they've even reached elementary school age, most certainly before junior high.

When that "box" is *reality*, it's best to keep your thinking *inside* of it.

Whose logic?

Somewhere you must make assumptions ... we are just limited creatures like that. You seem to assume that for something to exist you must have observable repeatable evidence. Christians do not. And while your assumption seems like an ok thing, its just based on an assumption with no proof.

"Logic" is based on certain assumptions. If you can't agree in the fundamental assumptions, then using logic is meaningless.
