We want grandchildren but my only child won't reproduce!?

I have a daughter who 26 and has not yet had a child. She is our only child which means she must have kids to keep the family line. We are a proud family with a long history and it distresses me to think that my daughter would waste time before continuing the line...

She tells my wife and I that she just hasn't found 'the one' yet, but the way she acts makes me think that she is just trying to push men away, she comes on way too strong when she meets a new man and I worry that this might be sabotage and that she doesn't really want children at all!

It's very frustrating, and we're worried she'll be 'past her peak' in a few years time. We've considered everything (even trying to artificially inseminate her!) in our desperation, but it would be ideal just to get her to change her mind and have children naturally. How can we get her to finally settle down?

You're going to force your daughter to have kids just because YOU want to continue a family line? How selfish is that. It's her life, if she wanted your opinion she would ask. Stop pushing her like a crazy control freak.
 
You've got a "proud family with a long history," yet you could find only enough li'l swimmers of your own to produce only one kid? (Sounds like genetic-defect fertility issues to me, oh man of perfection.) And I'm kind of amazed that a Neanderthal like you is forward-thinking enough to believe that a lowly, inherently defective creature like a girl-child (that's your daughter, by the way) is qualified to "carry on the family line." (Silly me: I thought that only penis-packin' boy-babies could carry out such an awesomely important duty.) I hope your daughter charges right on out and gets her tubes tied, before severing all ties with you, you selfish nit, for eternity. As for you, Gramps, please feel free to join us in the twenty-first century.
 
This is wrong on so many levels. You are so obsessed with making sure the line continues that 1) you don't even care if she does meet someone that she would actually want to have kids with just so long as she has a kid, 2) you have no concern for whether or not having a kid would make here happy or be right for her, and 3) have actually gone to the length of discussing artificially inseminating her (and by the way you mention it it sounds as if you would be forcing this on her, which is unbelievably disturbing). Take a step out of the middle ages and join the rest of humanity. I can't imagine what makes your DNA or family history (no matter how long or interesting it may be) so important that it just has to continue.
 
You and your wife deserve to be drug out into the street and shot. The reason why she refuses to have kids at this point is to more than likely wait until you are both dead so you can no longer see her as a breeder pig.
