Ok. So when I was younger I dreamed that I stood at the top of my grandma's staircase, and jumped off. I flew the whole way down. After I told my mom that I could fly she told me to show her, and I did. Then she said we had to go to the bank. As we were waiting in line my mom told a guy all about how I could fly and how amazing it was. He told me to show him, but I couldn't. I was trying to fly, but I wasn't getting off the ground at all. I was really embarrassed, and then I woke up.

Does this dream have any type of meaning?

Maybe it means that you need to try hard to make good appearances in front of people you don't know very well and you can already do it in front of people you know well like your mom.

I think the key is that you tried to show a man your ability, but couldn't, especially in front of your mother. I know I may be sounding a bit Freudian, here, but to me this dream could represent a feeling of inferiority when around other men, because there may have been a feeling of competition for your mother's love. This is a pretty common feeling when we are young. Think about a time where your mother showed affection for an adult male. How did this make you feel? Many times, for boys, they will feel jealousy towards adult males because they are used to the attention they receive from their mother. I think the same holds true for girls, too. But in your dream, I think this feeling was prevalent. You could show your mother your astounding ability to fly, and she talked you up even, but when it came to a strange man whom you didn't know, (i'm assuming), you could not even get off the ground.
There is also much discussion of feelings concerning something called "childhood sexuality", but I'll leave it at that, due to a lot of controversy and whatnot.
