When our army marches forward to meet an enemy who hides in holes, amongst civilians, and refuses to meet us head-on in battle, how can we call this a war? With adequate supply tunnels the enemy can stay in these holes for years and take pop-shots at our troops from camouflaged openings.
Isn't this what caused the Russians to be driven from Afghanistan, and Americans from VietNam? Didn't this impossible situation start to repeat in Iraq, and have we now learned how to deal with it?
Or has the world learned how to defeat great armies with small bands of cowardly hit-and-run guerrilla tactics?
Are barbarians again at the gates of great empires who have mighty weapons ?
