Were the 1990-2000 yamaha triple cylinder snowmobile engines reliable?

I know that the ski-doo and polaris triple cylinder engines from this era liked to blow up, but all i have heard about yamaha engines from this era is that that are so reliable and nobody has had any problems with the engine. All i am really looking for a back-up that this is true because my father said that i can't by the snowmobile that i want untill I get proof that the yamaha triples were good engines, (I want a 1994 yamaha vmax4 triple 750cc)
