So I feel like a total moron asking this question because I'm usually very good with computers and hardware, but I bought an HP CD/DVD writer today, thinking that I would also be able to use it as a normal disk drive. Am I able to use it as a normal disk drive? Or is it solely for the use of burning CDs/DVDs alone?
If it helps, the exact product is an HP External 24X Multiformat DVD/CD Writer 1270e.
....and when I say "use it as a normal disk drive", I mean using it to install programs off of CD-ROMs, like Virus Protection software and games and such.
