I'm absolutely in love with the FX. I'm a new driver and I know everyone who responds to this question will be like "get a crap car, you're new, you suck". But I don't really care. My dad is buying me a car once I turn 17 (in about 6 months or so), and it can be whatever is under 25k or so.

The only issue that's stopping me at this moment is the fact that my dad had one a couple of years ago. It was supposed to be handed down to me once he was done financing it (which would have been February of next year), but he traded it in for a BMW. He had some issues with his.

He said the brakes had noticably faded from when he first bought the car and something was wrong with the transmission where it would get stuck in 1st at times. Also, what really made him worry was that he spun out in the snow and could not regain control of the car. Even with AWD, it didn't help. I wasn't with him at the time so I don't exactly know what happened (e.g. if he did something stupid/how he handled the situation) but it still is an issue. Also, I'm not sure if he'd get me the car knowing this was a problem.

Besides that, what are everyone's opinions of the car? I love the way it looks, inside and out, and I love the noise it makes. Here's some pictures for those who haven't seen it:

Just click Photos.

Other cars in mind are:
2007 Audi A4.
2006 BMW 330i.
New VW GTI
New VW Jetta

Other suggestions/opinions are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

The FX35 is one of the best SUV's ever to be introduced. Featuring the much critically acclaimed VQ35 engine which gives to car the perfect balance of performance and fuel economy. The FX35 has been known to hit 60 in 6.5 sec which is faster than a BMW 328i Coupe/Sedan w/ automatic transmission. This car also features the same exhaust as on the G35 coupe which gives a deep exhaust note when accelerating. But to be honest there are better choices out there. For 25,000 you can get a car that will 60 in under 5 secs
