It's freshwater heated, im starting off today with some tetra's until the tank is cycled, as my friend who works at my local petshop says that would be fine. However i was dissapointed to learn i could not put fish such as discuss or parrot fish together as they wouldn't get on. I would like a community tank so my question is...what are some big (ish) bright coloured or interesting fish i could put in that would get along? I saw fish such as gouramis which looked lovely, but they were the most colourful of all the ones i saw.
Here is what i'm thinking
2xGhost knife fish
2xSilver sharks
3xGouramis
6xtetras
2xOther fish
2xother fish
Any suggestions?

Clown fish are for marine tanks, not freshwater ones.
Anyway to everyone else thanks for the answers, i should have specified my tank size.
I didn't realise the silver sharks grew so big. but the list WAS ONLY A ROUGH IDEA lol. I will go back to the pet shop and have a chat with my friend.
