Every time I use minnows, I catch the legal maximum. Don't know why. Yellow perch love 'em, though. Minnows. What you do is, you buy all the minnows live and then take them out on the boat with you in a cooler or something. Then when you're ready to fish you stick the hook through the fish's eyeball and attach a sinker on the hook and drop it all the way to the bottom. Some people use a fancy depth monitor, because perch live around sixty feet down, but I prefer to use a SONAR fish finder if I'm going to pick any single piece of equipment out there as being the most helpful. Yup, fish finders and minnows. And I always catch the legal maximum and have tasty dinner for nights to come. Yummy perch. Good luck fishing :)
