So out of the blue my son calls me today and says that his mother (my ex) took Christmas gifts that I bought him and sold them to a pawn shop. Sold, not pawned. Apparently she went a bit too crazy at the casino with some friends, and was desperate for cash. I talked to our older daughter, and she told me the same story. When I talked to my ex she just started screaming and telling me to stay out of her life.
The total value of these items is well over $5k. I have receipts to back that up. As far as I'm concerned she's a thief. I paid for these, not her. She didn't ask our children if she could take them. And even if she had they wouldn't have said yes. The items were in her house because the kids live there, but again this is all just things I paid for. Can I press charges against her, because I want these things back from the pawn shop?
