What can I do if im trying to finalize an dvd-rw and it will not work ?

Hello... I currently have a sony handy-cam. I recorded an event last night. I had to used 2 disks, the first disk will not finalize at all.. I really would like to upload it but no matter what I download, It will not work.. Please help me!
