What can I do to keep my cat from whining in the early morning?

My cat is such a sweetheart, and she loves to sleep in the bed with me at night. But about 4 or 5 am, she'll get up, then come back and start whining. I think it's because she wants me to give her attention. I usually end up shutting the bedroom door. Occassionally, I shut the door before I go to bed at night so I don't have to worry about her waking me up. I don't like to do this though, because 1) it makes my bedroom super hot, and 2) I feel bad because she likes to sleep in the bed. Any suggestions on what to do?
