What car/truck rental company would you recommend if crossing the border?
I will be traveling from Toronto, Ontario, Canada, to Virginia and North Carolina in the summer. I have heard that not many car rental companies allow you to take their rental cars outside of Ontario. The only exception that I have heard of is UHAUL, although I have been told that they charge an arm and a leg for mileage. Does anyone know of any affordable car rental companies that allow you to take their vehicles cross border? Ideally I would be renting a minivan or a cubevan. On a related note, do rental companies allow for numerous people to drive the rental vehicle? Would you have to pay extra per additional driver? My mother and I would be taking turns driving. I am 22, if that makes a difference (in terms of minimum ages for drivers). Thanks very much for any help!
