What could be wrong with my car?

I noticed smoke coming from under the hood. The car was not overheating or losing power and drove just fine. There are no visible leaks; nothing on the ground in the garage. My husband checked for cracks in the radiator and didn't find anything. The only sign of a problem is the smoke.
Edit to add: We checked the fluid level in the radiator when the car was cooled off, and it is full.
 
If you topped up or filled your rad, windshield washer fluid, oils etc. the spillage smokes sometimes. That happened to my Corvette when someone borrowed it and they brought it home via tow truck so they didn't get stopped for pollution by the police. It was a very sloppy job. They were trying to do me a favor.
 
Sounds like the thermostat is shot.The steam is probably releasing through the water pump,so either loose the stat or replace it.
 
It could be a small leak in the water pump, or really anything.

Usually when the engine gets hot it flash-melts anything touching it, especially on the exhaust. You might have run over something that got onto the exhaust pipes, like water or fluid on the road.

Countless things make smoke come from engine compartments, even when you can't find anything. Until you notice something going wrong there isn't any way to trace it.

Make sure to check your fluid levels though.
 
is it smoke or steam. Your engine should smoke from any where so you need to find where it's coming from

Have your husband check the fluid in the radiator (while the motor is cold) the fluid should be at least with in 1" of the top if not full. anything less and you may have a fluid leak in a hose or connection somewhere. Fill it and run the motor till it gets warmed up and look for leaks then shut it off and check for leaks then as well as that's when the most perisher builds up (when the motor is off).
OR your A/C may be dumping its condensation on the exhaust pipe then would cause smoke (steam) as well.

Maybe it is a small leak and therefore it evaporates/smokes before it has a chance to drop onto the floor.
