what could this grinding noise be in my SUV?

I have a 2002 chevy suburban that I just recently started to hear a grinding noise every time I hit the brakes. I have checked the brake pads and they all look fine. We have just started to hear a clicking noise as we drive also, what could this be?
 
Jack the front end up and check to see if the wheels wobble when moved from top to bottom or side to side if it does the wheel bearings are bad
 
Change the brake pads. That's the only thing that is going to make that sound when you hit the brakes.. Period. Not sure about the clicking noise.
 
could have a piece of gravel trapped between the rotor. its happened to me once. made an awful sound, in reverse it was very, very loud as it was grinding into the metal. The clicking sound could be a loose wire perhaps from the anti lock brake sensor mounted under there. Is you ABS light on on the dash?
 
If you've never had your rear wheel brakes serviced, they could now be worn out after 8 years and 100,000 miles of driving. GM brake pads may have a "wear indicator" tang that rubs against the rotors when the pads need replacing. It makes a noise, so make sure the pad tangs aren't hitting the rotors. Of course your last front brake job may not have been at a GM dealer.
