what do u thnk about going on single tours?

I am planning a trip for Italy next year and i wanted to go by myself. but a friend of mine tld me its not safe to go over seas alone esp by being a women so she said look up single tours. But i am afraid of being limited to what i can do. I really jus want to enjoy it and my time there. What is ur opinion on single tours?
 
italy is actually very safe as long as you go with a reputable company and stay in the 'good areas'. its not really a 'single tour' its you traveling alone to meet new people. a great place to do that is staying in hostels where you can meet other traveling people from all over the world who also may be traveling as single or a group.
