I cant figure out what GM was selling when they came up with this.... Its not a truck, not an SUV and its ugly as sin.... Then add the horrible fuel economy and why have you got?... an ugly gas hog?...

Its not a truck and it is not an suv ... you can't fit anything in the back (honestly the seats fold but nothing really fits) and its not as conftorable as a suv or fit the people ...mpg isn't great ..... id rather have a silverado ... an actual truck seats 6... and a bed where you can move anything .....

Hello!

I owned a 2002 K1500 Avalanche, and thoroughly enjoyed it. It seemed to me to be much like a modified Chevy Suburban ... but a bit more practical. With the folding wall up, the "pick-up" box was comparable to a short bed pick up ... and it seated 6 people quite comfortably ... my Lab pup enjoyed the back seat when it was just her and me. True ... it was not the best on fuel economy ... but with the 350 V8 it was comparable to any other full size truck. In all honesty, I rarely had to fold down the rear seat and back wall. Had I not had the urge to get a step side pick-up, I would have kept it longer. In all honesty, it would be more practical (and economical) for me now with 2 toddlers and an aging Lab! I always feel safer in a truck ... especially since I have become disabled! Honestly, if you can find one with the cloth seats, I think you would be happier. I find the "leather/vinyl" seats tend to hold the heat the most during the "wrong" season, and do not really hold up that well with age!

Good luck with your ultimate decision!

the avalanche is a strange kinda looking "truck" but it is a truck and the most important parts,, the power train and electronics are just common chevy,, OK. U called it a car & if U want a "car", better pass on it but if that part don't matter, go for it and good luck !!

For most people, its an impractical truck. I'd rather tow with a full-size pickup and I'd rather have the cargo space of a Tahoe or Yukon. However, it still has the durability of all other GM trucks and the engine makes great power. The looks are love it or hate it. I don't mind it just because its different.

I don't know anything about the performance of the car but I can tell you I personally dislike the way it looks. I wouldn't go as far as to say my opinion reflects the general public though.
