what does the ! light mean on the kia sportage?

my friend brought a car and the ! light came on she doesnt have a manuall to find out what it means does any one know???

on any vehicle that light represent the hand brake, or foot brake in some models that have the brake next to the accelerator on the left hand side of the vehicle.
