For an English assignment, I am writing a short story in the style of Edgar Allen Poe. I have a rough draft of a plot right now, and it's pretty creepy, but I want to achieve maximum scariness, so I'd like suggestions. Also, I don't want blood-and-guts gore scary, I want more psychological scares and things that would leave you, when lying in bed at night, want to make sure the closet door is closed. So far I have a dark, stormy night, an abandoned cottage full of clocks ticking and inhuman whispers, and a disintegrating man. *COPYRIGHT* So what other actual PHYSICAL aspects can I include. Think about what freaks YOU out personally and write that.
