With all the talk of Burke wanting a top 6 forward, lets define one. Since there are 30 teams and 6 top 6 forwards per team that would imply 180 or 60 at each forward position.
Currently the Leafs have
LW Kulemin 49 among LW in scoring
Kessel and versteeg at 17th and 39th respectively.
So based on last years scoring they have 1 top 3 winger and 2 other top 6
Now lets look at some names in the top 60 at each position
Center
Antropov 20
Stajan 31
Steen 47
Lw
Ponikarovsky 26
Hagman 33
Blake 37
RW
Stempniak at 29
Looks like Leafs had lots of top 6 forwards but traded them all to get the 41 st ranked D man in Phaneuf and the 44th ranked goalie in terms of wins. But hey he was 29th in sav% and 36th in GAA.
Seriously with all this talk of top 6 forwards, when you think of it it doesn't take much in terms of offensive production to be a 2nd line forward in this league. Even Michael Ryder is 57th among RW.
The Question
Would Michael Ryder and a pick make sense for Kaberle? Leafs get their top 6 forward, Bruins clear some cap space on a contract that ends this year like kaberle's?
Thoughts?
