What happened to Professor Moriaty, the archenemy of Sherlock Holmes?

You might like to read John Gardner's three books regarding his take on what happened to Professor Moriarty. I have only read one of them so far, but plan to read the other two. I normally don't like it when another author writes about characters another author invented, but this book was very well written and I enjoyed it.
