I'm an adult trying to pick up target shooting. I've been looking on websites and forums, but no one seems to be asking or answering the questions I have. I'm looking for a bolt action rifle. I dont know if i should be shopping for brands or for caliber. What I've seen in my studies, is that most guns are manufactured in a range of calibers. Isthat what fits in a single rifle, can the ammo be changed up a little, or is that just what the company produces. A different rifle for every caliber? I plan on target shooting from 100yds-1000. I've seen most experts recommend a .22 for a starter target rifle.. My concern with that, is I've also read the farther shots, the lack of weight makes a .22 a little squirrely. Is this true? If so can it be managed with a heavier bullet? Or is it a lost cause. I would also like to say that I'm only planning on target shooting, but one day I may want to take it out on a hunting trip. So something big enough the take out some big game would be useful. Thanks for your help.
