What is a RF Modulator for? How do I hook my 1987 Stereo to my 2005 TV or VCR?

I have one. Y? Can I use it to hook my 1987 Sony stereo speakers up to my 2005 TV or VCR? The RF Modulator and the VCR have a 's-video' Plug....What's the 'S-Video' plug for .... stereo video? Y does the RF Modulator have a power cord to plug into the wall... to boost / add power to the Radio Frequency....? When I connect my two plug 'in's' R &L on my Stereo (Stereo "IN" is the only option R & L) & I connected it correctly to the Audio 'Out' on the TV and VCR seperately.... I only get a high pitched 'Hummmmmmm'? So the Hummm means the cords work...the connection is wrong? Still No Surround Sound Stereo TV in my living room :( .... Do I need a connector for a two plugger RL from the Stereo 'IN' to a 3 plugger to the TV or VCR with V & Audio LR 'OUT'? If so, where can I get one....? Can anyone tell me how to hook these two together.... Thank you!

An RF modular is used to convert non Radio Frequency devices to an RF signal that can be used on the "Antenna in" RF connector on a Television. For instance many older TV's do not have Video in and audio in RCA jacks. They only have an Antenna in and antenna out jack for coaxial cable.

Then with a RF modulator you can hook a VCR, game box or other direct Video Devices to that TV.
