I don't want the style to be completely flat because it isn't the style I want for a new web comic. My problem is drawing people (faces especially) with depth to make it more interesting. I'm able to draw basic 3D shapes quite easily, but can't put them together into characters. I can draw static objects (fruits, still life, FLAT cartoons) fairly well with pencils and paper. Any suggestions on where to start please?
