Gingerbread is the newer version of Android. It is basically an improved version of froyo. If you were to hold two stock android phones together, one with froyo and one with gingerbread you wouldn't be able to tell the difference. If i were you i would get the phone that comes with gingerbread as it has more features than a froyo phone would have.
