I am a 2nd generation Italian-American (Also I have been considering making an application for my Italian citizenship through what is known as “jure sanguine”).
I am retired and currently live in Istanbul, Turkey -and have a FIXED income of $1,879/month. I know how far that goes in Istanbul and I am considering moving to Palermo, Italy to LIVE PERMANENTLY (no just travel there) -or some surrounding area outside of Palermo -or nearby that could make this work if my $1,879 fixed income is sufficient. (NOTE: I will consider other parts of Italy if Palermo is to expensive. Don't really care where so please offer suggestions anyone has based upon real knowledge.)
Things of interest: (1) Rent of reasonable 1 BR apt, (2) Local utilities: gas, electricity, water, trash, etc. for said apt., (3) average monthly groceries - I will cook at home 99% of the time, (4) high speed internet (a must!), (5) mobile phone (a must), (6) local transportation cost (bus, trains, taxis)., (6) Misc expenses to make this happen.
Thanks in advance to anyone seeing this who can help me with this "comparative, hard $$$$, information in order for me to determine whether I can do this or not.
