What is it with this bullsh*t part from Death Note?

Light gives up his Death Note to Ryuk to hold before officially transferring ownership to his dad, but Light says he can keep the memories by keeping Misa's Death Note on him?!! WTF? At the very most he would only be able to access her Death Note's memories while he touches it, but now he can access them while having it ON him? And what about the fact that he frickin GIVES IT BACK to Misa and THEN gives that notebook to that other guy with the Shinigami eyes?
