What is Paikea's mother's name in Whale Rider?

I'm working on a project for school and I need some more information on Paikea's mother and her mother's parents. Are they mentioned in the book? I went to the IMDB site but they only list names and not who that person is, and there are several female names that I don't know who they are. Also, Paikea's maternal grandparents are not mentioned at all in the film. Are they mentioned in the book? If so, what are there names? and does it give a reason why they are not involved in her life?
