What is peer to peer file sharing and how can I get rid of it?

I was recently suspended from a health forum that I have used for 3 years without any problems. The reason given was - peer sharing.I have NO idea what that means and how did I get it?Maybe I have a virus causing this?Is there a scan to find out if I have this peer sharing and if so, how can I get rid of it?I can get in other forums without any problems.Thanks.

peer to peer file sharing or P2p is mainly used to download illegal music, movies, etc. It is possible to share files through limewire, morpheus, etc.Just uninstall the program.--JJ

P2P, is used with servers like Bit Torrent, LimeWire, etc. etc. The servers are legal. What is not legal is when you use the servers of any P2P to download, videos, movies, music, files. If any of the data is copyrighted and this usually is the case this is a crime, as you are stealing property that belongs to other person. And if the owner desires, they can file criminal charges against you.Plus P2P always opens the back door of your PC, when you download files from unknown sources for some of the very worse trojan viruses, spyware keyloggers, rouge dialers, ec. etc.Pls., excuse my English, not my primary language.Mind Doctor,Paris, France

I'm not sure why a health forum would suspend you for P2P, unless you talked about doing it on the forum. P2P is the type of file sharing done be Napster, Limewire, Kazaa, BearShare, and many other programs that let you search for and download movies, songs, pictures, or software. You or someone else installed one of these programs. Find out which one and uninstall it.
