What is the best smartphone to buy?

I already have a service plan with verizon. I have a LG VX 9400 at this time and I would like to switch so that my phone has a PDA. I don't care about internet. I can't really afford the service. Which phone should I get? I have a mac but my husband says he hardly uses the syncing so it wouldn't be necessary.

Also, whatever phone you suggest, will that be easy to transfer to after having the LG or will I have to add more things to my plan. I would like it to be an easy transition
 
Whatever u do, just stay away from cell phones with windows OS like Motorola Q, audiovox xv6700, 6600, 6800; Palm 700W, etc.
Windows cell phones freeze occassionaly and then u have to do reset.
I currently have a Palm 700p with PALM OS. The phone is awesome. It is everything you can ever need--- excellent resolution, great camera, excellent call quality.
You can also run internet on it for free. u dont have to purchase the verizon data plan. Just put one of the wireless SD card in the SD slot on palm 700p and u can use the wireless signal from thr router in ur house to run internet on it.
