What is the best way to watch live matches from the Australian open on an ipad?

I don't actually have an ipad yet cus I don't have a wireless router at home, which I probably just will get a cheap one, so my second question is will it run smothly, live streaming in general that is, or do I have to get a really expensive router in order to get a good smothly running video?
