I noticed at the junkyard some of the blazers from 92-95 had the Vortec 4.3 and said it in red letters on the top of the engine. My 91 S10 has the older TBI setup and I seem to like it, but it burns oil bad and I want to buy a differernt 4.3 from the junkyard for it. What should I get, that Vortec one from the blazers, or another TBI one?

Brutl nailed it pretty good.
But there is one more option,

A 4.3 is just a small block v8 with two missing cylinders, on my old s10 I replaced the 4.3 with a 5.7. You can buy kits to help and it is not that much harder

I got the motor from a Silverado and used the v8s distributor and exhaust manifolds & computer

I used the same wiring harness, just had to lengthen a couple of sensor wires.
Computer even plugged into the original harness.
.
The accessories on the front of the v6 went right on the v8s with no problem
The kit was mainly just getting a little room for the radiator and condenser.

It was a lot easier than I thought it was going to be, and it made that truck
sooooo much better

My mileage went from 22hwy to 27hwy and no one could pass it.

I have had both and I like the tbi better. They have less sensor problems, also you would have to change the computer and possibly the tranny as well. Have you tried stop leak or lukous yet? If the leak dosen't effect the proformance, just keep adding oil.
