being a foreigner, I'm not so familiar with this so it'd be great if someone can help me out ~ so when 2 people see each other, you'll normally say "Hi " right? but is it necessary (as a Must) to continue with the " Hi, how are you doing? "
would simply greeting others with "Hi" not be polite enough?
Here is the scenario: Steve and I bump into each other and we say " Hi " at the same time, but he also says " how are you doing? ". Am I obligated to say " Good, how are you? " back ? will simply answering " Good, thanks ! " be rude ?
