What is the kind of transformers used in mobile chargers?

They seem pretty small and lightweight when compared to old AC/DC adapters.In what name they are known.Don't they have an iron core?
 
Most of them now use a modern switching power supply. It has less iron in the transformer, smaller filter capacitors and generally smaller components. They have better regulation of the output too.
