Try a cottage on a lake, the mountains of just about any state, although I would go for the eastern mountains with the trees they have. IF you can get reservations, the old hotel on the south rim of the Grand Canyon, One of the fishing villages in the north east, or the Outer Banks of North Carolina. What ever you do, try to stay away from the vacation crowds. There is a hot springs resort near San Francisco that is really nice. If you can do any hiking, or don't mind a bit of a bumpy, dusty ride, there are hot springs that offer privacy, and relaxation in California, and western Nevada. While I would suggest Yellow stone, I don't like the idea that most of it sits in the caldera of an ancient, dormant only, mega volcano.
