I have a few friends who are teaching in Japan now, and I have seen some of the videos they have made while in the classroom. One of the things that stands out the most is the greeting to the teacher.
I know there is that in some of the videos they greet the teacher with "Ohayo gozaimasu" or "ohayo gozaimasu okage sama sensei ha ogenki desu ka" (though I have only seen this one twice), but in others they will greet with something that sounds to me like : something, Rei, Kiri. I understand rei, meaning bow from my kendo studies, and I am guessing that kiri is to sit or squat. So phrase/command it is Stand, Bow, Sit, usually lead by the class rep. the teacher then will reply with the appropriate greeting.
I have studied Japanese for about 8 years, but my listening comprehension isn't great these days due to living in Taiwan. So if someone knows what I am talking about and can tell me what these words are I would be very appreciative.
