So i checked out Alt J recently (I know im behind). Gotta say An Awesome Wave is fantastic. Very original sound and i totally dig it. However, the vocals really bother me. Sometimes they sound really good especially when he signs in a lower voice. I guess my problems are when he gets all nasally and pronounces things in a very bizarre way. It also sounds almost like hes doing a poor impression of a Jamaican man at times. Im not normally one to discriminate against really obscure vocals but this guy just seems tooo strange to me. Otherwise, I LOVE this stuff. The instrumentals are awesome. I understand the vocals are part of what makes this band unique, but i just feel like it would be better with a more "normal" approach. What do yall think? Tell me why im wrong or why im right.
