My daughter is on her middle-school track team. Last year as a 6th grader she turned out to be good at jumping, and competed in both long and triple-jump, coming in 1st or 2nd in most meets, and placed 5th in state in TJ, just using regular running shoes. This year, I promised to buy her spikes, but I'm not sure which ones to get. She will probably be doing some 4x100 and/or 4x200 relays as well. She wants both sprint and jump spikes, but that's seems a but much at her age considering her foot is probably still growing. I doubt her relay teams will do that well either way; her best bet for medaling is her jumps. I don't know whether to buy sprint spikes and use for everything, or buy jump spikes and just have her use regular running shoes for the relays.
