What Kind of USED SUV would best suit these guidelines?

Hey everybody, I got my license a month or two ago and my family has been looking to get a 3rd car so that we can all swap around depending on our needs. We have decided that an SUV would be the best fit for our family, and it would be my main car. We are looking to spend around 2500, can go higher or lower, and would like the car to have relatively good gas mileage.

In your price range an older Ford Explorer or even a Chevy S-10 Blazer. If you can find a good Toyota ForeRunner or Nissan Pathfinder that hasn't rusted out, that would be a good SUV too.

You aren't going to get good gas mileage from any SUV but these smaller, older models will get you in the low to mid 20s.

Be very cautious when buying a older car for not a lot of money. You are going to run into serious reliability issues no matter what car you end up with.
